Our clients Corporation Broadcast Communications Division is looking for a Director of Engineering to manage a high tech, multi-location team in designing and sustaining software and hardware development efforts of the video server (Nexio), and eventually news / sports (Newsforce) and compressed domain (Digital Turn Around Processor) groups.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to focus hardware and software development resources on creating state-of-the-art products that meet or exceed both internal and global external customer expectations while meeting product functionality, cost and delivery schedules. product reliability.
Specific Responsibilities
Make strategic technical decisions in order to meet / exceed market expectations of the competitive video servers, news / sports, compressed domain areas.
Manage department managers in Three Locations.
Improve product quality
Work with New Product Introduction Processes to establish plans for performance specification, time schedule and budget.
Prepare and manage the expense budget
Ensure continuously improve department processes and procedures
Manages two off shore development teams in Russia and China.
Work as a technical partner with Product Line Management and the Business Development team
Build opportunities to share technologies and information.
Provide guidance as requested for product introduction strategies.
Meet with customers
Assist Sales department in pre-sales situations
Ensure service department personnel are properly trained on new products.
Work with Finance on setting, forecasting, and managing expense budgets to ensure compliance with Business Unit expectations.
Work hand-in-hand with HR in recruiting, developing, retaining and upgrading the talent.
Travel will be 25%.
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in BSEE or related discipline.
10-15 yrs of R&D engineering management experience.
Working knowledge of principles of P&L business management.
15+ years experience broadcast or related industry.
Preferred Additional Skills:
MBA or MSEE preferred.
Solid understanding of software engineering.
Knowledge and experience in design of products for various international markets.
Ability to attract, develop, motivate, and retain a world class subordinate staff.
Project management discipline orientation.
Polished presentation skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the Corporation.
Highly competitive, team oriented spirit.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
