Executive Job Description | This position is for design and implementation of embedded software to support Ethernet switching, routing and MPLS on a multi-service, carrier class L2/L3 platform. The candidate will be responsible for design, code development, unit testing, feature testing, system integration, defect resolution and sustenance. The focus area for software development for this position will be MPLS protocols and services and connection management software but can include any other piece of software on the L2/L3 platform.
Requires a Bachelors of Science degree in CS or EE or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years of professional work experience.
The required knowledge, skills and experience include:
- Very strong C programming skills
- In-depth experience with software development for a large switch/router in one or more areas of System Software, TCP/IP, MPLS or VPLS
- Very good knowledge of TCP/IP, MPLS, routing and switching concepts
- Experience with large distributed processing architecture, real-time embedded operating systems like VxWorks, real-time Linux, OSE
- Detailed experience with software development and debugging tools for such environments.
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Passionate about quality, thorough, organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge/experience in one or more of the following areas would be a bonus:
* Masters of Science in relevant field
* Experience in MPLS protocols, Traffic Engineering, PWE3 and LSP management.
- Knowledge and experience with L2 and L3 data forwarding architectures and software/hardware interactions.
- Knowledge of QoS concepts.
- Experience working on a very similar carrier-class platform
