Executive Job Description | Sr. Systems Administrator Location: Houston, TX Salary & bonus
Our client is a leading E-Commerce portal.
Our client, one of the fastest-growing companies in Houston, currently has an exciting opportunity for motivated individual to join our fast-paced company as the Director - Information Systems. In this role you will manage network operations, desktop user support, technology projects, remote facilities, telephony and other related IT services. The candidate needs to be able to identify overall business objectives and how those will drive all resource needs for the systems team.
Reports to SVP-Product Development
Responsibilities Develop extensive documentation of all systems and processes involved in maintaining our 24x7x365 production, test, and development environments. Develop, deploy, and configure web-based Java and LAMP applications. Use extensive kernel-level knowledge and experience to administer Unix platforms, including clustering, rapid deployments, NFS, DNS, SMTP, and HTTP(S). Design, develop, and test networks and security using knowledge of TCP/IP, including packet level analysis, load balancing, SNMP programming, intruder detection and prevention applications such as Snort Perform infrastructure monitoring utilizing MRTG, OpenNMS, and Nagios. Use knowledge of RAID, SCSI, SAN, and Fibre Channel storage technologies to design, install, and administer storage area networks, including JMR, EMC, Qlogic, and Brocade products. Support MySQL and Oracle 10g RAC on Red Hat Linux. Managing a small technical team
Requirements Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years experience with Red Hat Linux and other Unix platforms. 7+ years experience with scripting in Bash, Perl, and PHP. 7+ years experience with NFS, DNS, SMTP, and HTTP. 7+ years experience with Java applications and Virtual Machines. 5+ years experience with storage technologies, including RAID, SCSI, SAN, and Fibre Channel. Project management and leadership skills Excellent communication skills Apache module development. Web server log analysis technology and tools. Development with C/C++, Java, CGI, Perl, Python and PHP Ideal candidate: Experience working for an E-Commerce company We need someone that possesses not only traditional Sys Admin background, but someone that has managed and can be a people manager (50%technical/50%managerial)
