Executive Job Description | Senior Network Engineer
International Financial Firm is currently recruiting a Senior Network Engineer for their Network Engineering department. Qualified candidate will be responsible for the last escalation level for Network related questions/issues, interface to other IT departments and to the business for all Network related items; evaluate, research, and recommend changes to current and future network requirements to meet the organization’s business needs,
Project Management role: develop, plan, implement, test and support the organization’s projects as they relate to the network/distributed system, be subject matter expert on a variety of projects, including but not limited to those that have a system wide impact on trading and volume; work on multiple projects simultaneously as a technical consultant or project manager and research, document and provide training on new network technologies and hardware.
Responsibilities:
• Lead planner, and Network Engineer
• Consistently improve on knowledge, experience, teamwork and education (BS, MS and Certifications)
• Use applicable methodologies, tools, standards and procedures to accomplish project goals and system troubleshooting.
• Provide high level distributed system architecture documentation, concepts, practices and procedures.
• Provide in depth research and analysis on technologies that will benefit the strategic goals of firm (Speed, Technology and Vision)
• Provide in depth mentoring, training, leadership and education to group of network and computer analysts.
• Manage telecom vendor relationship and evaluations.
• Make analysis and modification(s) to trading system communications.
• Analyze and proactively manage problems and make final decisions that impact overall system(s) and project(s).
• Be active participant and educator in technology community (within and outside of workplace).
• Ensure change management methodologies are being used for network projects.
• Interface with IT and business groups for Network related projects.
Required Experience
Technical Knowledge:
- achieve high level of technical knowledge of firm’s network and of the industry in general
- provide training on new design and projects being implemented
- provide training on new technologies and new hardware platforms
- research, document and present new technologies
Customer Service:
- final escalation point for isolating, troubleshooting and documenting network related problems
- liaison with other technical groups
- liaison with the business to provide information of the network for new initiatives
- level 3 support for any kind of issue
- involvement and ownership of network related issues
Quality of produced work:
- comply with Change Management process
- deliver quality documentation
- ensure work / configuration is delivered with high quality standards
Project Management:
- comply with PMO methodology
- manage and deliver network project in a controlled manner
Ensure that projects are delivered on time, in budget and with out interruption to the business
Budget control:
- make sure cost containment is maintained through-out the network project and in general
- provide cost analysis to network project

Education / Experience:
- network / security certification is a plus
- bachelor degree or equivalent job experience required / masters in IT preferred
- project management experience
- Cisco Nexus platform
- technology industry experience
- financial service experience
