Executive Job Description | Title: Director of Database Services Location : Preferred CT or East Coast but if the candidate is willing to travel 5 days nationwide, it should be fine. • Responsible for leading and managing direction of Enterprise IT Database services team and activities. Primary duties include, but are not limited to: oversees database architecture, database development and maintenance functions for enterprise systems. Leader will oversee functions for the enterprise database team such as: strategic planning, budget development and management for multiple cost centers, contract compliance and necessary integration of government regulatory requirements. Management duties include hiring, training, coaching, counseling and evaluating performance of direct reports as well as management and oversight of sourcing partners. • Serves as the leading authority in Database Services and Administration best practices, standards, policies, methods; broadens and deepens competence in others; is focused on the future understanding, identifying, and developing trends in database technologies, services, tools, and techniques to gain strategic advantage for . Successful candidate defines future direction of standards, processes, and procedures; ensures compatibility with overall organization and department vision and direction. • Interacts with the highest levels of IT management to develop the vision and mission of Database Services including strategy, guiding principles, and objectives. Provides guidance to senior leadership concerning the best sourcing methods (in-house or contractual) for accomplishing required workload. • Contributes to industry direction, strategy approaches, and body of knowledge. Researches market for innovative new technologies, tools, methods and processes; integrates with business and IT partners. Skills • BA/BS and master's degree in Computer Science/Information • Management or equivalent combination of education and experience required. MBA preferred. • 10 to 15 years of experience in information technology required, as well as seven years of experience in Data Base Administration in a leadership capacity or related disciplines. • Prior experience with all major industry standard DBMS technologies (IMS, DB2, UDB, Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL Server) required. • Experience with Teradata considered a plus. • Demonstrated leadership ability with a team a large team of 50+; superior verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills required
