Job Description
The Conversion Principal is a key role within Blackbauds Professional Services division. This person is responsible for the development, maintenance and communication of the knowledge base for the enterprise solutions conversion architecture and implementation methodology. The role requires a high degree of internal collaboration with the Blackbaud Product Development, Support and Professional Services teams.
This role will be the thought leader for the data conversion team and be responsible for keeping current with the various needs of the team and will rollout processes and tools that support improved implementations. The Conversion Principal will work with technical resources throughout the organization to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement for the data migration components of the solution.
This position includes working directly with the delivery teams and client base, and therefore includes some level of travel, approximately 25%. This position reports to the Technical Services Data Conversion team manager.
Job Responsibilities
Delivery & Practice Development
Building strong, long-term relationships within Services, Product Development, Product Management and Support by demonstrating product expertise and knowledge of industry best practices and benchmarks.
Initiating and engaging in practice development efforts that improve internal processes and drive client satisfaction around the data conversion implementation.
Deliver regularly scheduled communications back to the conversion team on remedies, enhancements and direction for conversion implementation practices
Supporting delivery teams engaged in client consulting engagements on use of the proper methodology, tools and templates.
Maintain approximately 25% billable utilization.
Product Knowledge
Demonstrate extensive knowledge on industry best practices as they relate to data conversion solutions and tools.
Act as a subject matter expert on Blackbaud product data models.
Possess strong knowledge of the Infinity platform and understanding of the API .Develop product integration expertise with other Blackbaud products
Product Development
Act as a liaison between clients, consulting delivery teams, conversion team members, Blackbaud Product Management, and Blackbaud Product Development to define technical improvements to data conversion tools and practices.
Function as the data collection point for technical related feedback from internal technical consultants
Participate in product roadmap discussions
Assist in prioritizing key product implementation issues relating to active implementations in relation to data conversion.
Service Development
Act as a liaison between clients, Blackbaud Product Management and Blackbaud Consulting Services to develop and deploy service offerings tailored to meet market needs.
Lead the development of an offshore methodology for the data conversion team
Training
Spearhead the development and quality assurance of white papers, new training curriculum and the continued evolution of technical tools and processes for data conversion. Develop a training curriculum for customer lead conversion efforts and third party consultants
Act as a knowledge expert for consultant questions on product functionality and implementation methodology.
Requirements
Blackbaud is looking for individuals who fit the following characteristics:
5 - 7 years of data conversion experience in a consulting environment.
Architect level experience or demonstrated tier expertise
Extensive industry knowledge in the field of data migration.
Experience on several enterprise implementation projects
Experience with offshore technical development
Experience leading teams and mentoring team members
Experience in T-SQL programming is required
Experience with SQL Server 2005/2008 environment preferred
Experience using the .Net platform (VB.Net, ASP.Net, C#)
Excellent skills in writing, maintaining, testing and debugging code in applicable programming languages
Experience with SQL Server 2005/2008 relational databases
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, both written and oral, and overall ability to translate functional language and concepts into technical solutions.
