Executive Job Description | The Applications Test Development Engineer will be responsible for the development and execution of test plans, procedures and scenarios for unit, process, function, system integration and acceptance testing. The chosen candidate(s) consults with the development and/or requirements team to coordinate and test applications.
Responsibilities
Develops schedules; Creates automated test scripts; Tests existing applications for compliance with upgrades. Ensures new applications and software modifications meet requirements and operate satisfactorily in the system environment. Ensures that the software interfaces with both new and existing systems. May build test environments to include configuring and installing appropriate software. Writes detailed test plans, procedures and scenarios. Documents the successes and failures of all executed test procedures. Maintains currency on tools, methodologies, technologies and programming languages. Specialized Qualifications: Considerable knowledge of at least one automated test tool. Ability to proficiently create automated test scripts. Ability to interpret requirements and translate them into precise test cases. Considerable knowledge of the operating environment of the application being tested. Considerable knowledge of database query languages, such as SQL, to assess the state of the data before and after test transactions are performed. Ability to detect, report and explain defects effectively. Ability to explain protocols, technical procedures and processes clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to plan, set goals and determine strategies for accomplishing results; monitors and evaluates progress toward goals. Ability to maintain currency on tools, methodologies, technologies and programming languages. Ability to write clear, concise and effective correspondence, test plans, procedures and scenarios in accordance with policies.
Provide test engineering support. Will execute functional testing and analyze testing results. Will work in partnership with an integrated team of staff and contractors. Will be required to provide appropriate documentation. The chosen candidate(s) will be required to support off-hours deliveries/troubleshooting on occasion.

Qualifications
BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or experience that would provide equivalent knowledge
7 - 10 years of functional testing experience is mandatory in this position.
5 - 7 years experience with automated software testing tools for web-based applications using Java, J2EE, JSP technologies, including EJBs and Web Services
Previous and most-recent experienced creating test plans and test cases
Ability to work outside of prime time business hours to support periodic off-hours functional testing
Knowledge of RDBMS (Oracle, MySQL preferred)
Candidates must be current US Citizens.
Preferred Skills
Proven experience providing functional test support to enterprise class applications with multiple system interfaces
Experience with agile development methodologies and test driven development.
Experience with Selenium, CVS, Eclipse, Subversion, and Customer Task Tracking system.
