Executive Job Description
Division Manager DC Power - Switching
Salary $100k-$120k
Charlotte, NC

Reports To: COO
The manager for the DC Power Switching Division will be responsible in running the day to day operations of that Division. This is to include ensuring profitability for jobs performed in the area of DC Power for telecom and wireless switching. This position requires 60% travel. This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage Projects
2. Hire and manage personnel for the Division
3. Team with Sales Department to assist in sales as needed
4. Manage materials for the Division
5. Team with sales and engineering to provide quotes on customer RFQs
6. Ensure the profitability of the department

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

1. Manage Projects
• Help Project Managers in creating and developing M.O.P.S for each job
• Manage Project Managers and aid in technician scheduling
• Maintain a professional manner
• Ensure projects are completed in a timely manner
• Site visits as required

2. Hire and Manage Personnel for Division
• Help recruit and hire Project Managers and technicians for the Division
• Provide Project Managers with coaching
• Perform periodic and annual Project Manager reviews
• Approve merit increases for personnel
• Train Project Managers on team building, coaching, reviews, and other personnel issues.
• Ensure that Project Managers experience and training meets job requirements
• Make all final decisions on hires, promotions and terminations
• Work with Human Resource Department to help develop and follow company Policies and laws

3. Assist with Sales of the DC Power Switching Division
• Work with the sales team to help create and maintain a customer base
• Ensure customers are satisfied with work
• Ensure pre and post job communications occur throughout entire division
• Create a positive view of the company in the telecom community

4. Manager all materials for Division
• Work with Fleet Manager to ensure proper Division use and cost of vehicles and tools.
• Work with Warehouse and Inventory Manager to ensure the proper equipment is ordered and available.
• Ensure that DOT regulations are understood and followed by Project Managers
• Manage needs of remote offices as the Division expands and grows

5. Provide Quotes on customer RFQ’s
• Team with sales and Engineering in development of quotes
• Recommend changes and cost saving ideas

6. Ensure Profitability of Division
• Work with CFO to create, review, and train Project Manager on reports and documentation that pertain to the Division
• Take responsibility for P&L Management of the Division
• Work with CFO to create Division Budget
• Work with CEO, COO, and President to ensure overall company growth and profitability


Qualifications: - Quick Summary
1) Minimum 8 to 10 years experience in Telephony Switching Environment, including DC Power component
2) B.S. in business a plus
3) Strong business acumen, as proven with past experience
4) Strong computer skills – Microsoft office products, Great Plains experience a plus
5) Excellent interpersonal skills
6) Professional demeanor
7) Valid Drivers License with good driving record
8) Must be able to travel 60%



Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Minimum 8 to 10 years experience in Telephony Switching Environment, including DC Power component; Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university a plus.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Project Management software. Prior Great Plains experience is a plus.

Certificates and Licenses:
Must have a valid Drivers License with a good driving record.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Holds supervisory responsibilities over all of the Switch Power Division. Specifically, directs and supervises Project Managers and Techs, with the possible addition of warehouse personnel, and other office personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
