Executive Job Description | JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Our client is a world class organization with a wide reach in the oil and gas business. Their groups include an operations arm, a drilling company, and a private equity investment group. They are an independent oil and gas company that began operations in 2008 with an executive team that successfully built and divested three companies over the past several years. Their management team is widely respected in the industry and they are self-funded in their current venture. The mission of the company is to develop their current asset base (operated properties in East Texas, Louisiana, and in West Texas) and acquire and develop additional assets to augment their current holdings. In addition, the company is seeking to invest in both operated and non-operated projects with other E&P companies and invest in distressed oil and gas assets.
The land team is actively pursuing leasing, farm-out/farm-in, and acquisition opportunities and the operations team is drilling and completing new wells in the current operations area and optimizing production. The position of Vice President, Operations is a key part of the company and will have significant input in the strategic direction of the company and exposure to key management decisions. The goal is to rapidly promote the successful candidate to a Chief Operations Officer or Chief Executive Officer position in the next year to two years as part of the succession planning.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Significant experience leading and developing an operations group and experience in both oil and gas operations, with a bias toward onshore oil production. Experience in bringing in deals, evaluating operated and non operated properties, and capital budgeting projects is desired. Successful candidate should also have leadership experience both inside and outside of the industry. Experience in artificial lift, electronic submersible pumps, water disposal and treatment facilities, and management of field personnel is required. Petroleum Engineering degree preferred, as well as advanced business or technical qualifications. This is a key strategic and operations role and it is expected that candidates will understand the private equity model and be prepared to work hard, play hard, enjoy fellowship with other employees and actively work to increase revenue, profits, and the net value of the company.
