Executive Job Description | ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER-BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT-ESTIMATOR Southeast Florida, Palm Beach area. Our time frame is immediate. Salary and benefits package is Excellent. Primary Purpose of Position: Solicit new business, estimate work, create bids and proposals, and assist with project work Reports to: General Manager Construction Division Major Duties of Position: With the supervision and guidance of the General Manager, the employee will be responsible for identifying potential business to estimate and bid. Make sales presentations and prepare written proposals. Create marketing strategies to more effectively sell the company’s services. Identify Bid Solicitations: Scan work and bid solicitations from various federal, state and local governmental agencies for suitability of work to COMPANY. Once suitable work is identified, prepare brief written overview and present to upper management for consideration to bid. Estimating Work: Prepare estimate. Perform take-off; quantities of materials, equipment, labor, resources, cut-fills and all other items included in the bid. Solicit pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to optimize bid position. Ensure bids are submitted by due date and time. Successful candidate must possess working knowledge of bidding processes and procedures for Federal, State County and other governmental agencies with the ability to comprehend contracts. Preparing Proposals: Bids necessitating proposal packages where company background information, work experience, etc. is required will also be the responsibility of the Business Development Manager. Knowledge and Skill Requirements: 4 Year Degree in Construction/Engineering Excellent math, oral and written communication skills. Computer skills, knowledge of spreadsheets. Experience in Microsoft Windows, Word, Project and Excel required. Knowledge of project type scheduling programs would be very useful. Ability to interact and work well with others in a non-smoking environment. The position involves all aspects of project management for small to large-sized earthworks, levees, embankment revetment systems. Position entails oversight of multiple projects- a Field supervisor – a leader – a mentor- ‘seasoned’ - reporting to the general manager. THIS IS Also a FIELD POSITION Duties may include: Business Development- proposals, planning, studies, budgeting, client relations, financial management, Project Oversight, estimating, subcontract management and contract administration, and contract and claims management. Excavation, earthwork, water resource, levee, embankment revetment projects for clients. Extensive background check necessary - - Army Corps of Engineering a plus.
