The Director, Health Economics & Reimbursement (HE&R) reports directly to the Vice President, Worldwide HE&R and has overall responsibility for the management and oversight of the Health Economics, Outcomes Research and Reimbursement support for a selective nerve stimulator (SNS) product we are developing). The HE&R Director will direct and execute the planning, development, implementation, publication and training of all global activities designed to optimize the development and commercialization of SNS using the disciplines of health services research, health economics, outcomes research and measurement, health policy and reimbursement (coding, coverage and payment). Research activities will include but are limited to burden of illness, retrospective database analysis, creation and dissemination of economic models and value dossiers, patient reported outcomes, and clinical trial support with specific responsibility for design, execution, analysis and interpretation of economic, satisfaction and quality of life endpoints and results. Additionally, he/she will provide critical guidance to market research, pricing and commercialization strategy.
Successful candidate will work closely with US, WW and EMEA Marketing leads, Evidence-based medicine leadership, R&D, Regulatory, State and Government Affairs to ensure timely and robust input and challenge to the value proposition development process for SNS; ensuring appropriate evidence generation strategies that enable the development of a robust clinical and economic value proposition. The Director will lead the development and execution of legislative activities likely required to enable appropriate reimbursement pathway. Additional responsibilities include conduct and dissemination of market access assessments in key global markets and working closely with internal Strategic Market Access/local health care manager resources across regions to ensure inclusion of evidence requirements and health technology assessment landscape in the SNS new product development process. The Director will also be responsible for engaging external economic stakeholder forums to inform and validate value proposition and reimbursement strategies.
Although the focus of this position is to support the SNS product, the position will support HE&R assessment for our products, as needed, and will represent HE&R to internal and external senior managers and leadership teams. A minimum of a Masters degree in biomedical science, health service research, business or economics is required. Post doctoral experience is also desirable. Health services research and clinical epidemiology experience preferred. At least 5 or more years experience in HE&R function in pharma, biotech, device or other relevant health care environment required. At least 2 or more years experience in device reimbursement required. Strong knowledge of the US and EMEA healthcare system. Prior experience interfacing directly with Evidence-based medicine and Research and development teams. Knowledge of the needs and expectations of regional payers, insurers and commercial customers in our strategic markets. Strong knowledge of evidence generation and value proposition strategy development used in R&D new product development process in order to provide support for price and market access.
Experience in leading cross- functional teams to deliver and communicate evidence generation strategy and customer requirements. Experience with the methods and research tools used in Outcomes research, including clinical epidemiology, health economics and health series research.
