Executive Job Description | This highly creative and collaborative position is locatedwithin the Creative Services area of Individual Life Insurance (ILI) Marketing and reports into the VP, Creative Services and Consumer Marketing. The Director, Editorial Services is the primary editorialvoice for the business and will be responsible for applying his or herknowledge of life insurance and sales techniques to integrate the story into a variety of marketing collateral and other communicationsvehicles (print, audio/video and digital) for consumer and financial professionaluse. These materials should be motivational as well as informative. This individual should be a strategic, creative, and "outof the box" thinker, able to create and direct others to create impactfulmarketing material. This is a highly collaborative position thatworks closely with peers in Creative Services (Design, Account Services/ProjectManagement and Branding/Advertising/PR) as well as distribution/productbusiness partners in the Marketing department. This is an in-housead agency model located in the Marketing department that frequently workswith high volume and short deadlines. The Director, Editorial Services is responsible for settingeditorial standards and managing the day-to-day workload for a team offour professional writers. This includes setting assignments, measuringworkload, giving feedback/direction on their writing, and supplying availableresources needed to complete assignments. The Director will review allmaterials at various stages of development and be able to constructivelycritique each writer's work. This individual should be an inspirational leader, servingas a champion, coach, and mentor to the staff.7+ years in a copywriting/editing role with content targetedto advisor-led Financial Services. Must supply a portfolio of writing samples. Experience managing a creative team. Ideal candidate will have understanding of life insuranceproducts, as well as the major life insurance sales channels-captive agentsas well as third party sales including several levels within it (BGA, producer,broker-dealer, back office), and prospects/consumers. Ability to write highly sensitive, sometimes very complexcommunications, working with the senior executives of ILI. Ability to understand the nuances of and write to differenttypes of media such as video, audio, print and web. Knowledge ofnewer communications media is essential (social, mobile, etc.). Excellent collaborator and negotiator, able to work effectivelyin a high pressure environment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Candidate may be called upon to present his or her ideas to internal clients and senior management. Computer software expertise in Microsoft Office Suiteas well as familiarity working with a marketing automation system, such as Aprimo.
