POSITION: Plant Manager Reports to the President/CEO . The Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will be a turnaround specialist who has demonstrated the ability to improve the production and profitability of poor performing start-up manufacturing facilities. He/She will be goal oriented, enjoy a challenge and “manage by walking around”. He/She will have a solid engineer-ing/mechanical background with experience in hands-on leadership roles with small companies, 10M to 50M. He/she will provide the vision for a management team based on solid values, ethics, self-motivation, teamwork, enthusiasm and overall focus of growing the production and profitability of the organization. An independent, hard working, hands-on, cross-functional communicator with the skills to play an active role with direct labor and management will do well in this assignment. The ability to interact constructively with the management team and President/CEO is essential. It is required that he/she will have a minimum of 7 to 10 years experience in a front end process semi-conductor manu-facturing. A BS chemical, mechanical or process engineering is preferred. Familiarity with ISO 9001 and OSHA is important. Knowledge of the “Theory of Constrains” and experience with a Tier 1 or 2 ERP systems is helpful. Experience with Japan a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages and oversees overall plant operations including production, materials engineering, quality control, purchasing, finance, human resources, information services, and facilities. Develops and im-plements measures to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations; exerts a consistent, effective management force for the achievement of business unit objectives.
DESCRIPTION Responsible for attaining short- and long-term financial and operational goals. Maximizes operational profitability through efficient planning and use of materials, equipment and personnel. • Develops production schedules to meet internal goals and customer expectations. • Implements and monitors a maintenance program for equipment and facilities. • Maintains production and maintenance record-keeping systems. • Monitors material requisitioning for facility and administrative goods. • Develops a productive team of workers through hiring, training, and performance appraisal activi-ties. Ensures that necessary corrective actions occur on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. • Develops and implements procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate infor-mation flow both within the business unit and between the business unit and other areas of the or-ganization. Ensures business unit activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, State, and Federal regulations and laws. Provides strategic information to the corporation concerning the operations of the business unit and special problems and opportunities. • Builds effective working relationships with worldwide company personnel, customers, and suppli-ers. • Develops personnel, product, technology, and market resources to facilitate future growth.
QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical or process engineering or equivalent and 7-10 years of related experience. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Experience/familiarity with ISO 9001 and OSHA requirements. • Proficient PC Skills with strong knowledge of MS Office software. • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks. • Experience with a Tier 1 or 2 ERP systems
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Define performance expectations, clearly communicate expectations and measure performance of managers reporting to the PM. Provide frequent performance feedback and coaching and career devel-opment assistance as necessary.
Assist managers, as needed, in the recruitment, interviewing and hiring of appropriate personnel neces-sary to meet the requirements of the business.
Working in conjunction with the President/CEO; provide direction and structure for departments and budget preparation, policy development and strategic planning.
HUMAN RESOURCE SKILLS Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization. Experience in relationship building, mediation, motivating and mentoring is essential.
LANGUAGE SKILLS The conduct of work in this position requires a demonstrated ability to read and interpret a variety of complex documents such as financial reports, materials and engineering reports, blueprints and contracts. Additionally, the ability to write routine reports, correspondence and other business documents is essential. The PM must be able to speak effectively one-on-one as well as address employee groups, customers and vendors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Work requires the use of basic, post-secondary education mathematical skills. Strong spreadsheet skills using standard software is necessary. Creation of reports including graphs and other visual representations of information is desirable. Skilled use of internet tools is necessary. TRAVEL Ability to travel 10 to 20% of time
