single sigma arm or double sigma arm mixers in a wide range of batch sizes to meet specific bakery production requirements. Shaffer is the only mixer manufacturer to offer both enclosed and open frame designs and single end, double end or direct drive options. Shaffer presently employs 50 partners at their manufacturing facility.

Position: General Manager; responsible for all Engineering, Manufacturing, Scheduling, Manufacturing Planning, Purchasing, and Distribution Operations. This is a growth position; begin by envisioning an end-state and develop a plan to achieve it. Work with the
production manager to develop lean management processes and drive change within the organization. Shortly thereafter, manage the integration and alignment of design and manufacturing. Eventually grow into an enterprise leader, responsible for the P&L of the plant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 Plan, organize, and direct engineering and manufacturing which ensures the most effective return on assets;
 Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective use of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital;
 Assure attainment of business objectives and productions schedules while ensuring product standards that will exceed customer expectations;
 Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports Shaffer strategic initiatives;
 Develop and implement a lean management program including manufacturing process flow optimization, leader standards of work, visual controls, daily accountability processes, and leadership discipline;
 Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction, both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis, depending on need;
 Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving;
 Improve manpower utilization within existing departments and processes, and schedule stability that allows for maximum return on efficiencies;
 Manage spending against budget and in relation to changes in production volume;
 Work to establish management practices throughout assigned areas which include all employees’ positive involvement with opportunity for construction input and action;
 Develop a comprehensive safety program to include continuous improvement; continually improve safety record by addressing physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes, and maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas;
 Maintain individual skills keeping up to date with latest production and production management concepts.

Qualifications: The continued growth and expansion of the Shaffer business requires a dedicated and proven leader able
to work closely with all business functions.
 4 year degree (business or technical field);
 MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred;
 6 plus years of experience in a high production, custom manufacturing environment;
 10 years experience in manufacturing, with 5 years of managerial experience;
 Experience in implementing lean manufacturing and management processes, particularly in a job-shop application;
 Lean Six Sigma training is a plus.

Salaries/Benefits: Base salary of $100+ (DOE); achievement bonuses
