Executive Job Description | THE COMPANY
Our client is a well respected global manufacturer of engineered and innovative equipment to the commercial fiber/fabric industry.
THE POSITION
The Vice President/General Manager will be responsible for all functions of the Company including strategic planning, global sales and new business development, supply chain, and financial management. The General Manager’s responsibility will be to provide the commercial and business leadership to the Company in North America and Europe.
Target office locations are Chicago or Cincinnati.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Identify strategic market opportunities, prioritize those opportunities and develop a plan from an operations and sales perspective to ensure success.
• Develop the people and build the organizational capabilities and infrastructure required for anticipated growth.
• Collaborate with the company’s senior management on issues that affect long-term competitive position, identify strategic priorities to help achieve full business potential, and evaluate potential future growth opportunities.
• Lead the sales and marketing organization on product development initiatives, pricing planning and analysis and contract development and negotiations.
EDUCATION CREDENTIALS
Candidates should have a Bachelors degree- ideally in business, engineering or industrial management. An MBA is preferred.
MANAGEMENT/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of experience in leading the sales and marketing functions for a manufacturer of equipment with products sold in the institutional and industrial sector. Previous experience in the commercial laundry or a related industry is a plus.
Prior experience at a leading manufacturer like Whirlpool/Maytag Commercial, Alliance Laundry Systems, or Siemens with additional smaller-company/division experience is a plus.
Key professional attributes:
• The incoming General Manager will bring an outstanding track record in developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies in high growth environments.
• The ideal candidate will have had experience in technical sales (selling to engineers) and have experience in “long sales-cycle” environment.
• It is important that candidates are able to point to a track record as a product champion and have successfully developed and launched industrial products that have sustained strong market positions.
• Candidates will ideally have led businesses with an annual sales revenue base of at least $75 - $100 million. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate a track record on having built sustainable organizational capability to support an increasingly large and complex business, either within a large and matrixed global organization, or on a fully independent P/L basis.
• The ideal candidate will be able to bring international business development experience which, ideally, will include Europe.
