POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Our client is the largest manufacturer of stretch film in the world. The company has been in business since 1970 operating in the area of 100% recyclable linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) for industrial and agricultural use. Headquartered in Europe, the company entered the U.S. marketplace in 2007 with the acquisition of a regional, family owned business who introduced a first of its kind 7 layer stretch film. Via the acquisition, our client holds the patent on this product.
The companys products are marketed in IL, TN, GA and PA however they are committed to expanding the business throughout North America with the introduction of a new General Manager for U.S. operations. The General Manager will have the responsibility to identify market needs, develop a vision for success, and execute to achieve positive business/financial results. S/he will lead the US team to successfully develop and implement a new business strategy to specifically improve financial performance by focusing on product markets and successfully launching new products. S/he will do this by revising and defining processes and procedures and where necessary improving on the manufacturing model to support the strategy. Finally, the General Manager will work to achieve world-class performance on key metrics.
Key responsibilities of this position are to include:
Develop and drive overall strategic vision and integrate a broad range of ideas regarding plan, business/financial focus, and operational and technical training such as further SAP R3 implementation and support. Acting as US gate keeper for new development, the key resource for all US enterprise change, and the leader of local management and staff. Provide direction on staffing and consulting needs. Recruit and retain others to support goals and initiatives. Further foster and maintain good relationships with corporate senior management, customers, and overall working to meet and exceed expected customer service levels so as to create opportunity to attract and land new customers. Foster a strong, focused relationship with new Commercial Director of Sales & Marketing to enhance and increase customer accounts. Specific deliverables include:
First 30-60 Days
Assess the current organizational structure, staff and management. Make appropriate changes where necessary. Build metrics and develop a business plan necessary to achieve company targets. Transition the culture to a more proactive and productive environment ready for growth. Assess and improve SAP training to meet the growing demands of the business. Identify potential markets and relationships, initiate contact with identified entities and present information on companys portfolio and value proposition. Accurately determine viability of potential relationships and summarize for corporate management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Position requires a bachelors degree in business related discipline. Advanced degree desired. An engineering specialty would be a plus.
Professional Experience
Ability to transition businesses from mediocre performance to world-class using broad experiences and special skills acquired through experiences, education and training. Strategic thinking abilities and determination to learn a business, change it, and motivate the newly created organization around clear business metrics and responsibilities. Proven understanding and use of business improvement techniques such as Six Sigma, SPC, JIT, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and other tools necessary to accelerate performance. Excellent speaking and presentation to allow for effective communications. Experience with broad customer base. Ability to work within and handle overall operations, profits, and strategic activities for a multi-national specialty materials business.

Qualified candidates will have accomplished some or all of the following:
Demonstrated success in developing and implementing an overall strategy which includes working with different sales and marketing communication tools, enhanced production models and overall efficiency. Exposure to, or previous experience working with an internationally headquartered organization. Proven ability to bring deals to the table and successfully bring them to a close. Proven ability in managing production, control costs and improve efficiencies. Demonstrated ability to define and manage customer expectations and define support levels.
