Executive Job Description
Our client, On Lok, Inc., is seeking an entrepreneurial, results-driven Director of Business Development. Founded in the early 1970’s, On Lok, Inc., (www.onlok.org) is committed to being a dynamic local and national leader in improving the health and well-being of seniors. On Lok, Inc. has long been nationally noted as highly innovative and consistently on the cutting edge of the growing senior healthcare industry. Distinguished by innovations, integrity and compelling advocacy, On Lok, Inc. is dedicated to being a socially responsible, integrated care, person-centered organization. With a staff of 700, five corporations, and an annual budget of $95,000,000., On Lok, Inc. serves more than 5,000 seniors through:

• On Lok Lifeways: a comprehensive health plan that provides long-term care for eligible seniors (the originator of the PACE model of care for frail elderly).
• 30th Street Senior Center: one of the largest multi-purpose senior centers in San Francisco.
• On Lok Intergenerational Program: bringing together On Lok Lifeways members and children from neighboring childcare centers and schools.
• Housing: three buildings with various types of residential units for older adults.
• PACEpartners: a consulting department providing services to PACE organizations around the country.

The Director of Business Development is a new position, will be part of the eight member executive team, and is a direct report to the CEO. The Director will supervise an analyst and oversee a $500,000. budget. This innovative Director will build on the legacy and think beyond the core of patient care to such things as strategic partnerships, expanding and enhancing existing services, potential acquisitions etc.; leveraging the current model, inspiring the CEO and staff, and bringing new sources of revenue to On Lok.

The expected outcomes for this position include:
By the end of Q1, 2012:
• Will have become familiar with the organization's history, mission, values and structure, and have met with appropriate stakeholders and begun establishing relationships (first 30 days).
• Will have begun developing and vetting entrepreneurial options for developing innovative delivery models, new revenue sources, and growing and enhancing existing services for seniors (first 45 days).
• Will have begun responding to the new programs coming out of state and federal governments, and giving counsel to the CEO on such.

By the end of Q2, 2012:
• Will have an executable plan, to initiate the first entrepreneurial, new-source-of-revenue project.
• Will be providing ongoing counsel to the CEO on government programs.
• Will have inspired the CEO, Board and Cabinet with fresh, forward-looking thinking.
• Will have in place the first innovative, effective, revenue-producing project and have begun work on others.
• Will be seen as a key driver in On Lok’s goal to “be a leader in meeting the needs of seniors”.

We are seeking candidates with a combination of experience, training and education that would allow them to achieve the above noted outcomes. Candidates should have ten plus years of executive level experience; experience with healthcare, healthcare services, and/or healthcare policy (experience in the senior market and California knowledge/State Capitol experience are a plus); a background in selling ideas and motivating others; a background in working with financials and scenario running, with honed project management skills; and an undergraduate degree is required. Preferred experience includes selling to the senior market and familiarity with the PACE model; entrepreneurial experience including mergers and acquisitions; a background in obtaining grants; and an MBA or JD.

On Lok, Inc. is located in the world-famous city of San Francisco, long known for its incredible beauty and amenities. Our client is offering a compensation package which includes a base salary of $180,000. plus benefits. Fingerprinting, drug and criminal record screens are required for this position. The ability to travel nationally at least two times a year and statewide once or twice a month is necessary. Pre-screened, selected candidates will be invited to interview in San Francisco with the Search Committee on Monday, November 28, 2011, with second interviews the following morning. Our client desires the successful candidate to begin work no later than the first month of the year.
