Executive Job Description | CANDIDATES WITH FOR-PROFIT CAREER EXPERIENCE:
The CEO is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction as well as overall operational management for the facility in accordance with the mission, vision and values of the system and the Board of Trustees.
Essential Duties:
• Serves as a positive role model for ethical management behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles that is consistent with these principles.
• Completes an annual assessment of the extent to which the facility is fulfilling its mission, philosophy, and values and is meeting the health care needs of the community it serves and, when necessary, initiates changes and improvements.
• Provides leadership to the facility's community benefit and social accountability activities.
• Actively participates in community activities that promote the facility's mission, philosophy, and values.
• Human Resources:
o Attracts and retains high quality executive management personnel who will contribute to the sustained success of the facility.
o Creates a positive work environment for employees including competitive wages and benefits and the consistent application of personnel policies and procedures.
o Maintains open, honest, and timely communications to the facility's many and varied publics including the community, employees, medical staff, Board of Directors, and patients.
o Encourages the professional growth and development of the senior management team through such activities as workshops, seminars, independent study, and other continuing education opportunities.
• Financial Management:
o Develops an annual budget for the facility that is within the budgetary guidelines and timetables established by the system.
o Monitors all financial operations to ensure that the facility utilizes its resources in a fiscally responsible manner so as to assure the facility's long-term sustained success in the future.
o Authorizes purchases, distributions, contracts, and other transactions within the limits established.
o Develops and annually updates a long-range financial plan that supports the organization's overall strategic plans and objectives.
• Governance
o Coordinates and participates in the selection of new Board members to ensure that the facility's governing board encompasses the broad range of expertise it requires.
o Provides the local Board of Directors with an orientation and education to its roles and responsibilities as well as the current issues and trends that may affect the sustained success of the organization.
o Works closely with Board chair in keeping the Board informed of major issues and activities on a regular basis, in developing board meeting agenda, and in helping to conduct meetings of the board.
o Supports and actively participates in meetings, committees, activities, and programs sponsored.
