Executive Job Description | Position Responsibilities
The divisional CFO has full P&L responsibility for the division and is expected to serve as a financial business partner to the president of this division to drive corporate strategy and ensure the organization meets or exceeds performance expectations.
1. Business Analysis and Decision Support – The divisional CFO will act as a financial business partner to the president of the division and each of the general managers. The divisional CFO will develop financial models to assist these executives in making informed business decisions. This person will also be expected to develop a strong understanding of how the Company’s operations affect the financial performance. Finally, this person will assist in analyzing operational processes, service offerings, new markets and other business initiatives. 2. Metrics Reporting – Upon joining the Company, the divisional CFO will be expected to do an assessment of the Company’s key reporting metrics.
3. Financial Planning and Analysis – The divisional CFO will be expected to evaluate and review the existing financial planning process for completeness and accuracy. This person will then be asked to lead this process and work closely with the general managers to create baseline expectations, variance analysis presentations and reviews. The divisional CFO will prepare a variance analysis each month end and a more formal review each quarter end. Also, as part of the annual planning process, the divisional CFO will be expected to develop a three year strategic plan for the business.
4. Corporate Development – The Company’s strategy includes potential growth through acquisitions. Also, the divisional CFO will lead due diligence and post acquisition integration activities. Finally, this person will be expected to understand and evaluate the impact a proposed acquisition will have in terms of cost savings and performance synergies.
5. Corporate Accounting and Reporting – The divisional CFO will oversee the global month end close, consolidation and financial reporting functions for the division. Also, each quarter this person will prepare a more comprehensive financial and management reporting package for executive management. The divisional CFO will work closely with the accounting organization to understand the impact of new accounting rules and pronouncements as well as implement processes to ensure compliance with these regulations.
Professional Background
1. This position requires a minimum of 20 years of progressive finance experience with ten years of senior management experience. 2. Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting or related degree is required. MBA or CPA is preferred. 3. Prior experience working for a global technology company is required. Prior experience working for a global manufacturing/supply chain management company is preferred. 4. Prior experience in a large matrix environment, working closely with operations is required. 5. Prior experience working for a U.S. publicly traded company is required.
