Executive Job Description | Position Title: Vice President, Asset Management (Residential Mortgage Origination) Reports To: Director, Asset Management Direct Reports: Managers/Associates/Analysts
Position Summary:
The Vice President, Asset Management (Residential Mortgage Origination) works as a member of a team to i) provide strategic collaboration on the direction of our Mortgage Origination platform, ii) assist where necessary in the operations of the business, and ii) assist where necessary on additional platform acquisitions and capital raising. This is an early stage venture and therefore will require a diverse skill set encompassing mortgage origination operations, general corporate finance &FP&A and private equity/M&A experience.
Job Functions and Duties:
I. Capital •Interface with Operating Company on capital decisions related to Lone Star’s Mortgage Origination Platform •Investment reporting / FP&A •Capital management of investment •Acquisition of additional debt and mortgage investors (agencies, correspondents, servicing investors, etc.) •Review Operating Company acquisitions •Review Operating Company budgets
II. Risk/Execution •Involvement in the operational buildup/strategy of the mortgage origination platform •Prioritize different fund initiatives to ensure largest IRR life projects are addressed •Establish reporting to ensure Fund has visibility to risk management at the operating level •Establish contingency plans for negative variances to expectations •Provide Operating Company management with strategic plans, goals and direction •Monitor industry trends to determine opportunities and threats for Operating Companies •Monitor appropriate liquidity of Operating Company •Monitor Operating Company performance •Establish metrics and reports for measuring Operating Company success •Assess senior Operating Company management as needed; work to ensure appropriate resourcing at Operating Company •Manage due diligence, acquisition, and assimilation processes related to new investments •Present budget and action item pitches to management committee •Assist with periodic preparation/presentation of various internal financial reports
III. Management •Focus Operating Company (OC) team on strategic and cash flow goals to achieve results •Mentor, empower, and train junior resources and staff members •Provide support for Hudson initiatives •Provide support to lenders on banking issues •Manage fund and operating company relationships with outside partners •Bring in new relationships and terminate existing relationships as necessary •Provide resource support for Operating Companies •Coordinate requests from senior management and make sure they are addressed in a timely and professional manner •Ensure fund strategy is appropriately communicated and implemented at the Operating Company level
Required Education: •Bachelors Degree in Finance or related field; MBA, CFA/CPA preferred
•8-10 years progressive work experience; supervisory experience a plus
•Experience with financial modeling
•Operational management experience (residential mortgage experience a BIG plus)
