Executive Job Description | Our client, a major manufacturer is seeking their The Director of Tax. He/she will oversee the tax function, including research, planning, compliance (including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance), and federal and state examination issues. Works with senior management to develop tax planning strategies designed to minimize exposure to taxes consistent with existing laws and regulations. Oversees accounting for income taxes, including tax accruals, current and deferred income taxes and footnote disclosures in 10-Q and 10-K filings.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities
*Perform tax research and planning. Coordinate the development of tax strategies related to the Company’s current business and any proposed business initiatives and summarize findings in clear, concise written format.
*Monitor changes in tax law, including analysis of legislative efforts, regulatory pronouncements (IRS, Treasury, state & foreign taxing authorities) and judicial developments, and evaluate the potential impact of such on the Company’s business.
*Direct the preparation of the Company's financial statement tax provision, considering all necessary reserves, book/tax differences and adjustments.
*Oversee the completion and filing of all federal, state and local income tax returns and the preparation of all related analysis and support.
•Coordinate the preparation and filing of all state and local sales and use tax returns.
•Direct the calculation of the Company’s quarterly estimated tax payments and ensure timely remittances to the IRS.
•Coordinate internal resources in connection with federal and state tax examinations.
•Oversee the design and implementation of efficient and effective internal controls over the tax provision and return preparation processes, in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley §404 requirements. Ensure completion of quarterly testing and conclusions.
•Work closely with Info Systems resources to develop, implement and maintain information systems/reports to accurately compile financial statements and other data for various federal, state, and local tax returns/information reports.
•Review and coordinate expatriates' tax equalization.

Position Requirements:
BS degree in Accounting or related field, CPA required.
Masters of Tax and/or JD/LLM highly desirable.
10-15 years combined public and industry tax experience, including some international exposure. Retail experience desired.
Thorough knowledge of federal and state compliance and reporting requirements.
Minimum 7 years management experience.
