Executive Job Description | Senior Credit Risk Executive in the New York branch overseeing the credit risk component of the Americas corporate client portfolio, assisting with fulfillment of growth objectives as per agreed business writing strategies, portfolio monitoring, and exercising joint credit approval authority over new and existing client proposals.
Major Responsibility Areas
Provide comprehensive risk management over the corporate client portfolio. Perform detailed review and independent credit assessment of all transactions and limit requests. Critically assess downside/stress scenarios, lending structure, strategic fit of the client within the super regional strategy/branch business writing strategy, and policy requirements. Articulate a clear basis for each credit decision and/or recommendation to the next level in the risk chain. Oversight includes due diligence visits to clients, attending industry conferences, and proactive management of the portfolio via market indicators, external credit vendors, etc.
Desired Experience Profile
• Tertiary qualifications in Banking / Finance / Accounting / Economics. Post graduate qualifications highly regarded.
• 10+ years experience in corporate credit risk assessment and risk management.
• Experience in strategic client segments: Natural Resources, Consumer, Agriculture, Defense, Technology, and Diversified Industrials.
• Thorough knowledge of wholesale banking products including loans, trade finance, structured transactions, and various Markets products.
• Exposure to large, complex transactions
• Demonstrated sound credit judgment
• Experience in US banking markets involving major Multinational clients encompassing a broad array of banking products and financing structures.
• Light travel requirements for client calls and other due diligence meetings.
• General computer literacy skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven analytical and problem solving skills
Decision Making Authority
Decisions:
• Exercise of Credit Approval Discretion jointly with business counterparts to approve new and increased credit limits and annual reviews covering the Corporate and Institutional Client portfolio. Delegation of approval authority to be determined but commensurate with experience and business requirements.
• Approval of variations and waivers of existing loan terms and conditions.
• Approval of time critical Markets transactions.
• Sign off on various monthly returns covering the corporate portfolio. Reports include Control & Watch List; Irregularity Return; Forecast Provisions; and customer breach reports.
Recommendations:
• Recommendations to CRO America and senior risk executives as required.
• Changes to credit policy and procedures.
• Review of local business strategies.
