Position Summary: The Controller for Winter Haven and Miami will be responsible for managing the Business Units overall profitability through financial analysis and support that creates value, improved business results and expanded growth. Included in the responsibilities are business unit analytics, monthly forecasting and annual budgeting process, balance sheet review, month end closing activities, and all aspects of plant/cost accounting and business reporting to Corporate, Region and Local Management.
Role Responsibilities:
Provide and manage the necessary financial analysis and support necessary to create value, improved business results and expanded growth for the Business Unit in conjunction with the Dairy Fresh Management Team. Prepare monthly forecast and annual operating budgets as directed by management. Prepare weekly cash flow forecast as directed by management. Provide timely and accurate financial analysis and reporting to Corporate, Region and Local Management. Responsible for identifying customer/product low gross profit analysis, research causes, forward to management for course of action and follow up to ensure corrective action is taken. Responsible for providing detailed analysis for Gross Profit on all customers. Responsible for developing and analyzing new and existing pro formas for customers as directed by management. Analysis routinely includes costing down to the EBITDA. Provide summary notes and recommendations to management based upon analysis. Responsible for all aspects of plant/cost accounting including inventory accountability, standard cost maintenance and Federal Market Report. The Controller must become very knowledgeable in the area of raw milk including premium structures and the relationship between the different classes of milk. Responsible for providing accurate cost data to the General Manager and General Sales Manager to assist in establishing or adjusting monthly raw milk price changes. The controller is also responsible for ensuring that there are adequate controls and proper approvals in place for all price changes and that they are being adhered to. Participate in monthly pricing conference calls and analyze results of the process. Responsible for Capital Expenditure Request analysis on fixed asset/equipment purchases for business expansion, plant/distribution efficiencies and for potential new customers. Complete detail review of Business Unit balance sheet and financial statements monthly to ensure compliance with GAAP. Participate in the monthly closing process as directed by management. Ensure that all controls and procedures are implemented and consistently enforced. Any other assigned duties as requested by management.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Finance or related degree required CPA or Masters Degree in Business or Finance required 7+ years of management experience working in a leadership role in the food or consumer products industry with exposure to both revenue as well as supply chain (Direct Store Delivery (DSD) experience a plus) Strong business acumen, analytical and problem solving skills Ability to be effective in a fast-paced, results driven environment Strong leadership and communication skills (both verbal & written) Demonstrated ability to work in a large matrix organization Ross, JDE or SAP experience is beneficial Thorough knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Access
