Coventry Health Care of Georgia, a leader in the managed health care industry, has a great opportunity available for an experienced Manager, Medical Economics/Financial Analysis for our Atlanta office. We are conveniently located on the north side of Atlanta, near the Cobb Galleria, near the intersection of I-285 and I-75.
This position, which reports to the CFO, will be responsible for identifying and analyzing underlying factors that affect medical expense trends at CHC health plans. Responsible for working collaboratively with local plan management to project future medical expenses, and to develop plans to mitigate projected medical expense increases. Responsible for the timely and effective communication of analysis to participants in the decision-making process. Increasing responsibility for developing and directing a team of healthcare analysts.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES - Identifies and analyzes internal and external factors affecting department expense trends and makes recommendations. - Develops and implements policies and procedures to address key business issues and medical expense trends ensuring organizational goals are met. - Manages the processes and tools used to develop the annual budget and periodic forecasts. - Enhances the analytical, presentation, project management, and team-building skills of staff members. - Responsible for the preparation, distribution and presentation of ad-hoc financial analysis and reports at the request of senior management. - Identifies and evaluates actionable cost reduction and quality improvement opportunities throughout CHC using existing data tools (Ingenix, MET, MLR, Coventry Data Warehouse, SQL etc.)
JOB SPECIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. - Significant experience (5-7 years) in a work environment requiring substantial interaction with multiple levels of an organization (direct operations, middle management, and senior management) - At least 5 years of experience working directly with large-scale data warehouses (Oracle, Paradox etc.) - Five years of health insurance industry experience preferred. Familiarity with health insurance industry acronyms and terminology required. - Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret quantitative/qualitative analysis. - Strong analytical, organizational, communication and presentation skills. - Proficient in the following applications: Excel, PowerPoint, Access or equivalents. - Working knowledge of GAAP, financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting required.
