Executive Job Description | This position manages the general accounting function. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that accurate and timely financial information is maintained and provided to divisional and corporate management. This position is located in Salt Lake City, UT and the company will assist in relocation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires B.S. in Accounting or related field and five years accounting and managerial experience. MBA, CPA or CMA preferred.
The incumbent must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the duties and responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and is not all-inclusive. The omission of a specific duty or responsibility will not preclude it from the position.
1. Manages the general accounting by hiring, providing work direction, performing performance reviews, making salary recommendations, assisting with professional development, and establishing performance guidelines.
2. Oversees monthly and year end financial closing activity to ensure the accuracy of the financial records. Ensures that Generally Accepted Accounting Principals are adhered to.
3. Develops annual commercial expense, head count and various other budgets. Assists in preparation of the corporate budget packages.
4. Oversees the preparation of the annual report, 10-K package and tax package.
5. Works with internal and external auditors in review and audit engagements.
6. Performing special financial projects as needed by Controller/VP.
7. Develops and ensures compliance to appropriate policies and procedures for general accounting, customer service and contracts.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
1. Effective management and communication abilities.
2. Analytical skills required to oversee accounting, customer service and contracts activities.
3. Extensive accounting and financial background.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of sound accounting skills and internal control procedures, particularly in a manufacturing environment.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
The individual reports to the Vice President and Controller.
PRINCIPAL CHALLENGES AND PROBLEM SOLVING
Typical challenges are the ability to manage general accounting, customer service and contracts while also managing other special projects. Must be able to effectively manage many priorities at once. Insuring quality and accuracy in all areas of responsibility is essential.
