Executive Job Description | Our client, with division headquarters located in Philadelphia, PA, is a global industrial manufacturer serving aerospace and general industry. This growing $1.5+ billion business is comprised of thirty operating units with manufacturing sites in the US, Europe, Asia, South America and Australia and sales offices located throughout the world. It is part of a multi-billion $ “Fortune 500” diversified manufacturer.
The Division Controller will be responsible for overall financial reporting, measurement & control and asset protection for this business. This individual will maximize return on financial assets, achieving annual growth in revenue and EBIT targets through internal growth and domestic and international acquisition opportunities.
Responsibilities: •Manage division financial departments and associated headquarters staff. •Manage the monthly consolidation of financial results for division management prior to submitting the final version to corporate. •Oversee long- and short-range operational planning and performance measurement including profit planning, sales forecasts, expense budgeting, asset utilization, cost standards, savings opportunities, capital investing and labor tracking. •Conduct periodic financial reviews at all locations, including international. •Coordinate the preparation of the Division's annual budget. •Report on financial status of the Division to Corporate staff on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. •Conduct balance sheet reviews including provision calculations and reconciliations. •Review operational policy controls; implement changes as directed by corporate or division management. •Review and advise on the calculation of LIFO to the operating plants. •Administer systems and policies to effectively measure financial and operational performance. •Prepare specialized reports as needed by division management and corporate. •Provide leadership to strengthen the internal control environment and maintain SOX section 404 compliance. Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure efficient reviews of financial data and controls. •Review cost accounting systems and financial reporting structure. •Review capital expenditure requests to comply with corporate guidelines and for proper financial returns. •Assess international accounting issues. •Conduct financial audit review; implement changes as necessary. •Identify cost savings and process improvement opportunities throughout the Division.
Qualifications: •Minimum 10 years financial management experience in progressively responsible positions within global, multi-unit/cultural manufacturing organizations, with a demonstrated track record of accountability and achievement. •Strong skills and knowledge of accounting theory and application of financial principles (GAAP). •Experience with LIFO accounting. •Knowledge and experience managing financial operations in a global, multicultural environment. •Demonstrated track record of financial control and analysis within a complex manufacturing environment. •Working knowledge of IT; ability to recommend changes and upgrades to meet the needs of the business. •Strong managerial presence that reflects a “hands-on”, participative, pro-active operating style •Prior acquisition experience – due diligence, transitions, opening balance sheet, financial integration, etc. •Moderate domestic and international travel required. •Excellent communication; strong planning and organization skills. B.S. degree required. MBA/CPA preferred.
