Executive Job Description | The Direcrot of Tax and Accounting Operations (Tax and Accounting) will be responsible for the overall general management of the Company’s Tax and Accounting Department. The Director is expected to help develop both long and short-range programs and communicate these with senior management and the Company’s accounting staff. The Director is also responsible for managing Client relationships through management of the Tax and Accounting Consultants as well as his/her own book of business. The Director is also responsible for recommendations of the Tax and Accounting organization to meet long term strategic objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage the Tax and Accounting staff and Consultant staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties. • Determine departmental staffing requirements, and interview, hire and train new employees, and/or assist Human Resources with these personnel processes. • Provide management with recommendations on systems, programs, processes, and general client satisfaction. • Establish and implement business policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with the President, Human Resources, and other staff members as necessary. • Assist with the development and implementation of marketing strategies designed to grow tax and accounting services. • Direct and coordinate the Tax and Accounting Department’s financial and budget activities to ensure they efficiently and effectively support marketing and production, while staying within budgetary limits. • Manage internal and external complaint, client inquiries, litigation, and record retention. • Communication with the Company’s sales staff as well training of Tax & Accounting Consultants for cross selling of other MMHSI products and services. • Day to day management of outside vendors ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the department. • Establish productivity and consulting goals for staff. • Regular reporting of the progress of goals. • Attend all manager’s meetings, annual budget meetings, and other meetings as requested. • Review revenue and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas requiring cost reduction and program improvement. • Evaluate and establish appropriate prices to insure departmental profitability. • Research and create – or contract for – new products and solutions to meet the needs of the Company’s customer base.
Education and Experience Required:
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in business; or a junior college degree and 5+ years related; or equivalent experience. Minimum of 8 – 10 years experience with tax and accounting operations and practice management.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. • Ability to respond effectively to customer inquiries or complaints. • Ability to draft communications effectively • Demonstrated excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening). • Exceptional computer and technology skills. Must have a strong working knowledge of word processors, very strong knowledge of Excel, power point, and other Microsoft office Applications. • Must be able to travel as necessary.
