Executive Job Description | As an Assistant Actuary with LIU US Actuarial you will, under general direction, perform complex actuarial analysis to support a business group's profit, growth, and operational objectives. Communicates recommendations and exhibits to actuaries, management, and others. May work in valuation/reserving, pricing, product development, research/support, business planning, finance, etc. Responsibilities: Under general direction, performs complex actuarial analysis within a designated business segment/s to assist business decision making, financial planning, and strategy development Prepares special actuarial research and complex reports and projects; Presents findings and recommendations Provides clear and concise communication of complex technical actuarial work to technical and non-technical audiences Maintain clear and concise documentation of methods and activities Ability to interact with and provide technical assistance and information to peers, senior managers, and others within and outside of the organization Ability to mentor, motivate, and train subordinates and peers Provides recommendations for and assist in the creation and maintenance of computer software and data Pursue actuarial exams Attend industry and actuarial meetings and represents company at external meetings as necessary Complete required training
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; Masters degree preferred. Commitment to achieving Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society. Passing grades on a minimum of 7 Casualty Actuarial Exams is required. Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience required; Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and interact effectively with others within and outside the organization. Ability to motivate and mentor peers and motivate and train subordinates Ability to build complex models.
