Executive Job Description | This is a management opportunity within an expanding investment partnership group responsible for tax reporting for all partnership products (hedge funds, private equity funds, and exchange funds).This firm offers an energized environment with very strong team orientation. This is a client facing responsibility. You should anticipate regular interaction with clients or their representatives throughout the year. Your advice regards tax planning; provisioning and legal entity structure will be requested on an ongoing basis. The Tax Manager will review the compliance work of their team and get involved to whatever level of detail that the more complex situations require.
You and your team will be responsible for tax reporting for securities products and ongoing consultation with assigned accounts in support of compliance, withholding requirements and changing regulations and standards. Interaction with product development groups, legal and reporting functions should be expected. The AVP will personally, and with his/her team, be responsible for the ongoing development of research skills; including for domestic, international and cross-border tax regulations.
Principal Responsibilities: Review of federal, state, local, and foreign tax returns and K-1s; Provide tax technical support and respond to investor inquiries; Manage a team of tax professionals providing compliance and ongoing tax advisory support to investor partners and / or their representatives; Provide support and mentoring to your team, manage account assignments, and act as a point of escalation as needed.
Requirements: 5 to 8 years of experience with 1 or more in a leadership capacity required; Experience required on hedge funds and/or private equity and/or financial products taxation; Public / Big 4 experience strongly preferred; Knowledge in financial product taxation issues (e.g., taxation of futures, forwards, swaps, aggregate tax allocations, etc.) desirable; Managerial skills (internal staff and external service providers); Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task, ability to set priorities and direct team members accordingly; CPA / MST or JD/LLM desirable; Advanced Excel and experience with one or more Tax application systems is expected.
