Title Electrical Engineer Incumbent Department Engineering
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Operations Manager this position works independently or in conjunction with engineers, production and maintenance personnel. The Electrical Engineer job description is responsible for the design, deployment and maintenance of a broad range of electrical systems and equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Designs and modifies electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. Designs and directs engineering and maintenance personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products. Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new commercial, domestic, and industrial uses. Directs activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements. Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations. Confer with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products. Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks. Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements. Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications. Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards. Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical and controls theory to engineering projects. Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment. Supervise and train project team members as necessary. Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget. Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, and topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements. Plan layout of electric power generating plants and distribution lines and stations. Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs. Develop budgets, estimating labor, material, and construction costs. Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum five years prior experience Prior experience in Plastics Extrusion process and/or conversion of products from this process Knowledgeable of statistics preferred Prior use of designed experiments, Lean Six Sigma, SPC or equivalent preferred Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision Work effectively within a matrix managed organization
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree Electrical Engineering, Masters preferred
