Client Overview Our client is the Advisory services business of a leading global big four professional services firm. Their success has resulted from being account-centric, issue-based and competency-driven. Their Financial Services practice provides a broad range of integrated services which leverage deep industry experience with strong functional capabilities and product knowledge. As a result, they are a market leader in the asset management and hedge fund space.
Their Operations Performance Improvement practice helps clients better align their operating infrastructures with their strategies. They develop and implement solutions that meet their client’s performance improvement objectives. Their capabilities include operational improvement, profitability management, finance function activities, and business integration. Consultants focus on the assessment and redesign of business, risk, and control processes as well as the refinement of overall operating model. Their goal is to support clients' efforts to make their business units more effective and efficient as well as help remediate and mitigate process risk. They also analyze business requirements for alignment with technology architecture, infrastructure design, and vendor selection decisions.
They are rapidly expanding their Hedge Fund Advisory business and are seeking experienced operations performance improvement consultants and practioners at several levels to join their expanding team in NYC or Chicago. This is an entrepreneurial opportunity to help further build and grow this attractive business. Hedge Fund Operations Performance Improvement Consulting Responsibilities:
Hedge Fund Performance Improvement Consultants work directly with clients to transform their business problems into process, organizational, technology and strategy solutions. Senior Managers not only lead major client engagements, but are also responsible for selling additional advisory services. Managers lead a team of consultant through all phases of the process improvement life cycle as well as provide particular subject matter expertise to the design and implementation phase of each project. Senior Consultants work on key aspects of client engagements as an integral part of the consulting team work with client and/or third party strategic alliances to deliver solutions.
Operations Performance Improvement Consultant Qualifications
The “ideal” Hedge Fund Operations Performance Improvement Consultant will have: • At least 5 years of experience working in and/or consulting to the operations area for a leading asset management firm • Experience working in and/or consulting to the hedge fund, fund of hedge funds, Private Equity, Hedge Fund Administration, or Prime Brokerage • Strong analytical experience and process orientation as well as communication, presentation, and client servicing skills • Bachelor's degree (Accounting or Finance desired) with a graduate degree preferred • Ability to travel approximately 30% - 50% is expected.
In addition, the following qualifications and experience are desired including: • Strong knowledge in financial product such as bonds (MBS, ABS, CMBS, etc.) and derivatives (swaps, swaptions, cap/floors, futures, options on futures, etc.) • Experience implementing fund accounting, trade capturing and/or reconciliation systems such as Advent Geneva, Advent Axys, Eagle, Pace, Beauchamp, Panorama, Infinity, Antares, Fincs, FMC, Sungard Intellimatch, SmartStream TLM or SmartStream Reconciliations • Experience developing and executing test plans, test scripts across the trade lifecycle of fixed income instruments and derivatives testing the functionality of systems including Advent Geneva, Eagle, Pace, FMC, Sungard Intellimatch, etc. • Experience designing and testing reports for traders, management, and middle-office and back-office.
