Job Description
Company is in Charlotte, NC. Company has 40 production facilities throughout the world. 21 of these sites are in Europe, 12 in North America and 7 in Asia.

Needs to have reached that level of Operations or Plant manager.
Needs to understand processes and how to handle a budget for a dept.



Responsibilities:

This position leads and directs the implementation and support of a world-class procurement function on a regional basis.
Directs the purchasing and distribution of raw materials, energy, equipment, machinery, and supplies necessary to the organization.
Directs transportation to ensure products are at the right place, at the right time, in the right quantity, in useable condition, at the most economical cost to the company. This includes both domestic and international shipments to customers.
Key Accountabilities:

With Business Units and Vice President of Global Purchasing, develops and implements strategies for the purchasing of key materials, commodities, services, and logistics on a regional basis.
With Business Units, establishes, revises, and refines purchasing policies and procedures for North America and coordinates with Global Purchasing functions.
Coordinates and/or purchases strategic raw materials, energy, transportation, technical equipment on a regional basis, as appropriate.
Establishes and maintains purchasing activity reporting system at local and regional levels.
Benchmarks purchasing internally and externally to develop best practices and performance metrics.
Ensures that all purchases conform with company standards for safety, environmental compliance, OSHA regulations, EEOC compliance, Federal Trade Practices, and other applicable legislation.
Develops and implements transportation strategies for all locations in NA. Conducts research and feasibility/cost studies to small-scale trials.
Negotiate both domestic and international contracts with trucking, railway, ocean shipping, and river barge companies, freight forwarders and custom brokers, surveyors and storage facilities.
Analyze new means and modes to transport and store raw materials and products domestically and internationally using the best methods while optimizing service and cost.
Manage the Company's household goods shipments both domestically and internationally. Negotiate contracts to ensure the Company is paying competitive prices for these services.
Keep abreast of new transportation regulations, including Hazardous Materials, for all modes of transportation. Ensure that Company complies with all domestic (federal and state) and international laws to avoid additional costs and possible criminal actions.
Job Requirements:

4-year degree in business or related field.
MBA
TEN years experience showing progressive responsibility in the area of purchasing, transportation, engineering, or operations with an international company.
Purchasing systems experience including, but not limited to, SAP and/or MRP.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement fact based strategies in highly competitive environments and build key strategic alliances to improve efficiencies and reduce cost.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate alternative purchase and transportation options.
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of company personnel and vendors.
Ability to make sound high impact decisions without close supervision.
Staff: 2 direct reports. Functional responsibility for all NA site purchasing- 12 sites.

Budget: With VP of Purchasing and Logistics, manages .2MM

Total Sales: Responsible for 0MM in spend

Complexity of Knowledge: Interfaces with all MC’s, top management at key suppliers, and heads of Corporate Functions.

Area of Responsibility: Responsible for the interface with 3000 suppliers as well as SAP purchasing process

Salary is in the $120,000 range plus bonus
