Privacy Policy Statement in Detail

RiteSite.com has two different agendas that shape our Privacy Policy.

  1. Some of our work for you involves publication, not privacy.
Publicizing information you want known is one of our major functions. If you are an executive member of our Custom Career Service, you are posting Identity-Revealed Resumes in our restricted database that can be accessed only by registered Rites-Honored Recruiters. You want them to find and consider you. You may also post Identity-Concealed Resumes viewable by all who visit RiteSite. You want them to discover you, email you, and -- if you are interested -- you will reveal yourself to them. If you are a Rites-Honored Recruiter, a non-Rites-Honored Recruiter or an Employer, you are posting job descriptions which you expect us to convey to the public for you. If you are a Rites-Honored search firm or a Rites-Honored Recruiter within such a firm we make that favorable fact known to persons who visit and use RiteSite. And if you are a non-Rites-Honored Recruiter or an Employer then, as we explain when you register, we present your identifying information supplied at registration along with your posting whenever it is seen on the screen or provided for printing.

  2. The rest of our activity does not involve your asking us to publicize information for you and, in all of that activity, we are dedicated to protecting your privacy.
Here are two basic overall facts you should know.

    • We do not sell or otherwise provide any of your identifying information or any other information you may have stored on RiteSite to anyone unless (1) you specifically instruct us to do so or (2) we are forced to do so by a court order.

    • If we have a partnership arrangement with a vendor who offers goods or services to RiteSite members and you choose to go to the vendor's site to make a purchase, then we mark your departure as coming from RiteSite, so that we can be paid for referring you. We do not, however, supply any of your information to such a partner. If you decide to purchase from the partner, you supply your information directly to the partner yourself.

If, on the other hand, you are introduced to RiteSite by a partner site to whom we owe a referral fee, you will have been marked by the referring site. If you actually purchase from us, then we will inform them that someone has done so, but we will not identify that someone as you.

Information Collection and Use

Passive and Impersonal Information Collected
To measure our traffic patterns in order to improve and expand our services, we track each user's movement through the site and also note the site or search engine they came from and exit to. In this process we do not identify individual users and determine who it was that went where.

Registration
IIn order to use some features of RiteSite, you must first complete a registration form that includes contact information (such as name and email address). We use this information to contact you about services on our site for which you have expressed interest, and we send you information that is part of what you are paying us for (Memos from John and excerpts from Insights for the Journey, for example). You may opt out of receiving these services. Regardless of what you do or don't have us send to you, we never provide your contact information to anyone else. In order to enter areas of the site that deliver services you are paying us for, you provide us with unique identifiers (such as, username and password). These are not communicated by us to anyone else.

Orders
Whenever you purchase services or products from us, your credit card information is handled through an encrypted connection by a reputable 3rd party supplier of processing services. We do not capture or retain such information. If we ever make a refund or a payment to you, it is made to the same credit card you used when purchasing from us and the transaction is handled by the 3rd-party processing company, not by us. In order to accomplish commercial transactions with us, you must provide contact information (such as name, email, and shipping address) and financial information (such as credit card number and expiration date). This information is used by us only for billing purposes and to fill your orders. If we have trouble processing your order, the information is used to contact you.

Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. We use both kinds of cookies: (1) Session ID cookies, which make it possible for us to render complex processes to you quickly and easily during your visit. These cookies terminate as soon as your session with us ends. (2) We also use persistent cookies which last beyond your visit, but only for these two very specific and limited purposes: (1) if you come from a site we must pay for conducting you to us, we keep track of where you came from in order to pay them and (2) if you leave us to visit a site that must pay us for linking you to them, we indicate you've come from us so that they can pay us for the introduction.

Log Files
Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information. We use a tracking utility that uses log files to analyze user movement.

Communications from the Site
We send all new members a welcoming email to verify password and username. Executive members who purchase Custom Career Service periodically receive, as part of their service, job-changing and career development information that includes, for example, Memos from John and excerpts from Insights for the Journey. Out of respect for the privacy of our users, we present the option not to receive these communications and we do so both on the site and at the end of each communication.

Service Announcements
On rare occasions it is necessary to send out a strictly service-related announcement. For instance, if our service is temporarily suspended for maintenance we might send users an email. Generally, users may not opt-out of these communications, though they can deactivate their account. However, these communications rarely occur and are not promotional in nature.

Customer Service
We communicate with our users on a regular basis to provide requested services, and we respond to the issues they raise with us via email or phone, in accordance with each user's wishes.

Legal Disclaimer
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order, or legal process served on our Web site. Information may also be inadvertently disclosed due to some unforeseen circumstance, since perfect people, perfect equipment and software, perfect privacy, and perfect security do not yet exist and probably never will.

Aggregate Information (non-personally identifiable)
We share aggregated demographic information with our partners and vendors. However, such shared information is not linked to any personally identifiable information.

Third Party Intermediaries
We use an outside shipping company to ship orders, and a credit card processing company to bill users for goods and services. These companies do not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.

Service Providers
We provide information about third party vendors, such as resume writers, list vendors, and suppliers of paper and printing. Providing this information is strictly a one-way street. We identify them to you, but we never identify you to them. We will never give them any information about you that will enable them to contact you unless you specifically tell us to do so.

Links
This Web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we, RiteSite.com Inc., are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by RiteSite, not by anyone else.

Security
This Web site takes every precaution to protect our users' information. When users submit sensitive information via the Web site, their information is protected both online and off-line.

When our registration/order form asks you to enter sensitive information (such as a credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry -- SSL. While on a secure page such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to unlocked, or open, when users are just "surfing."

Besides using SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted within our company. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our Webmaster or a Customer Service Rep dealing with requests for information or help) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Our employees must each enter their own personal password each time they sign on and begin working. Furthermore, ALL employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Whenever new policies are added, our employees are notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to ensure our users' information is protected. Finally, computers that store personally identifiable information on RiteSite are located in a secure environment within one of the industry's most respected Internet hosting companies.

Correcting/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Personal Information
If your personally identifiable information changes (such as zip code, phone, email or postal address), or if you no longer desire our service, we provide a way to correct, update or delete your personally identifiable information. This can usually be done on the pages which are named on the navigation menu "My Contact Info" and "Change My Email," or by emailing our Webmaster/Customer Service Staff using the page marked "Contact RiteSite" on the navigation menu. Or, contact us by telephone or postal mail using the contact information listed below.

Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement on the homepage and in other places we deem appropriate, so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We will always use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.

If, however, we are going to use your personally identifiable information differently from the ways we stated when we collected it, we will notify you via email. You will have a choice as to whether or not we use your information in this different way. However, if you have opted out of all communication with the site, or deleted/deactivated your account, then you will not be contacted, nor will your personal information be used in this new manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect your information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on our Web site notifying users of the change. In some cases where we post a notice we will also email users, who have opted to receive communications from us, notifying them of the changes in our privacy practices.
